FANRPAN Contributes to the Regenerative Futures South Africa 2026 Conference
FANRPAN participated in the Regenerative Futures South Africa 2026 Conference, convened by Kagiso Trust, bringing together policymakers, researchers, farmers, development partners, investors and private sector leaders to explore practical pathways towards more resilient, inclusive and sustainable agricultural systems. The conference created an important platform for dialogue on regenerative agriculture as a key approach to addressing climate change, restoring degraded ecosystems, strengthening food security and creating economic opportunities across South Africa.

Representing FANRPAN, Dr. Tshilidzi Madzivhandila, CEO and Head of Mission, participated in a high-level panel discussion on Investor and Ecosystem Perspectives, where he highlighted the importance of scaling regenerative agriculture through evidence-based policy, strategic partnerships and inclusive investment models. He emphasised that while the benefits of regenerative agriculture are increasingly evident, the priority now is to move from isolated innovations to large-scale implementation that delivers measurable impact for farmers and food systems.
The discussions underscored the need to strengthen collaboration between governments, financial institutions, research organisations, farmer organisations and development partners to create enabling environments for regenerative agriculture. Participants also highlighted the importance of innovative financing mechanisms, market incentives, farmer-centred knowledge sharing and policy reforms that support climate-smart agricultural transitions.
The event further showcased practical experiences from regenerative farmers across South Africa, demonstrating how soil restoration, biodiversity conservation, integrated farming systems and value addition can improve productivity while enhancing resilience to climate change. These discussions reinforced the growing recognition that regenerative agriculture is not only an environmental imperative but also an economic opportunity capable of transforming rural livelihoods.
FANRPAN's participation reflects its continued commitment to advancing evidence-informed policies and facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue that promotes resilient food systems across Africa. The Network will continue working with governments, research institutions, the private sector and development partners to support policy innovation, climate resilience and sustainable agricultural transformation in line with its 2025–2035 Strategy, contributing towards food systems that are inclusive, productive and resilient for current and future generations.
