As part of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, a series of national and regional dialogues were convened between 11–28 March 2025 to shape a cohesive African position for the G20 Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS). These dialogues—spanning Southern, Western, Central, Eastern, and Northern Africa—brought together over 600 stakeholders from 35 countries, including researchers, policymakers, youth, civil society, and private sector representatives. Hosted by the Agricultural Research Council (ARC), the Department of Agriculture, and FANRPAN, in partnership with regional bodies such as CCARDESA, ASARECA, FARA, CORAF, RUFORUM, ACRA, and ICID, the consultations centered around eight key themes critical to transforming Africa’s food systems. The dialogues reaffirmed a continental commitment to inclusive, evidence-based agricultural transformation and aimed to align Africa’s research and innovation priorities with the evolving G20 agenda—contributing to South Africa’s MACS-G20 position and shaping the broader G20 Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting outcomes.
