Policy Advocacy and Knowledge Management
FANRPAN is keenly aware that the policy sphere has been largely a preserve of the state actor, with little or no contribution from the non-state actors. Through the Policy Advocacy and Knowledge Management thrust, FANRPAN seeks to enhance the voice of researchers, farmers’ organisations, agri-business, parliamentarians, media, and other non-state actors to assume evidence and articulate their interests in important agricultural and food policy debates such as the national and regional commitments in the Malabo Declaration. To ensure successful amplification of the non-state stakeholder voice, FANRPAN relies on a multi-dimensional intervention strategy that includes multi-stakeholder dialogue platforms; the development and dissemination of policy advocacy and knowledge outputs; the development and maintenance of databases with critical information for policy decisions; as well promoting the formation and nurturing of Communities of Practice focusing on critical challenges of our time.
