On February 1, 2011, Dr. Tshilidzi Madzivhandila joined the Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN)—a moment that marked the beginning of a journey dedicated to advancing policy research, strategic advocacy, and impactful partnerships in Africa’s agricultural and food systems.

Over the past 14 years, Dr. Madzivhandila has played a pivotal role in shaping FANRPAN’s influence, assuming key positions that have strengthened the network’s reach and effectiveness. His journey began with coordinating network-wide Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), where he helped establish robust mechanisms to measure impact. He then took on the role of Director for Policy Research and Analysis, leading the network’s programming and shaping evidence-driven solutions to some of Africa’s most pressing agricultural challenges. Now, in his second term as Chief Executive Officer and Head of Mission, he continues to provide strategic leadership, ensuring FANRPAN remains at the forefront of agricultural policy transformation.

Reflecting on this milestone, Dr. Madzivhandila acknowledges the many individuals, partners, and stakeholders who have walked this path with him. “FANRPAN’s success is a collective achievement, built on collaboration, resilience, and a shared vision for a food-secure Africa. I am deeply grateful for the support I have received throughout the years—especially during the most challenging moments.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Madzivhandila is eager to steer FANRPAN into its next chapter. With the FANRPAN 2025-2035 Strategic Plan set for implementation, the focus will be on deepening policy engagement, fostering new partnerships, and ensuring that research translates into tangible impact for Africa’s food and agriculture landscape.

“FANRPAN is more than an organization—it is a dynamic Pan-African network that thrives on collaboration and innovation. The road ahead is filled with opportunities, and I look forward to continuing this journey with all those who share in our mission.”
