The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network participated in the Regional Validation Meeting of the Draft East African Community (EAC) Agri-Food Systems Investment Plan (RASIP), held from 21–23 April 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The meeting, convened by the East African Community Secretariat with support from Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, brought together a wide range of stakeholders from across the region to review, refine, and validate the regional investment framework for 2026–2035.
The RASIP represents a significant milestone in advancing regional agri-food systems transformation, building on lessons from the previous Regional Agriculture Investment Plan (RAIP 2017–2025) and aligning with the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme Kampala Declaration. It is designed to complement national investment plans while prioritizing regional interventions that require collective action, including trade facilitation, climate resilience, and management of shared challenges across Partner States.
FANRPAN’s participation reflects its continued commitment to supporting inclusive, evidence-informed policy processes and strengthening regional collaboration in Africa’s agri-food systems. The Network was represented at the meeting by Sithembile Mwamakamba, Director of Policy Research and Analysis, who joined other regional and continental stakeholders in contributing to the validation process.
The meeting provided an important platform for dialogue, alignment, and shared learning among governments, non-state actors, and development partners. The validated RASIP will guide investments and coordinated action over the next decade, supporting the East African Community’s vision of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agri-food systems.
