The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN), represented by its Director of Policy Research and Analysis, Sithembile Mwamakamba, participated in the first Funders Working Group (FWG) meeting of the AU–EU International Research Consortium (IRC) on Food, Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA).
Held on Monday, 20 October, at the South African Embassy in Brussels, the meeting was convened by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa under the CEA-FIRST Project. It brought together African and European funders and stakeholders to discuss collaborative opportunities to advance food and nutrition security and sustainable agriculture through research and innovation.
As the Secretariat to the FNSSA Working Group, FANRPAN plays a critical role in coordinating stakeholder engagement, strengthening dialogue between African and European partners, and ensuring alignment of priorities across the AU–EU FNSSA Partnership. The Network’s participation in the Funders Working Group underscores its commitment to fostering evidence-based collaboration and supporting the co-creation of strategies that enhance impact, reduce fragmentation, and drive the transformation of Africa’s food systems.
This meeting marks an important milestone in operationalizing the IRC’s mission to strengthen Africa–Europe cooperation, align investments, and promote innovation in food, nutrition, and agriculture.
