The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) joined its partners and other stakeholders to conduct a planning workshop for the Coalition for Policy and Advocacy (C4PA), whose other members are the Africa Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institutes (ANAPRI), the Agriculture Green Revolution for Africa (AGRA), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and the Michigan State University (MSU).
The C4PA is one of five coalitions formed to drive the African Union’s Fertilizer and Soil Health initiative. With its primary focus centred on soil health and regeneration policy issues geared towards raising soil-based productivities – for pastoral and agronomic practices, C4PA works hand in hand with four other coalitions, namely, Fertilizer and Private Sector; Research, Innovation and Technology; Soil Information and Data Systems; and Extension and Human Capital.
The Kampala workshop managed to develop a draft workplan for the policy and advocacy coalition ahead of a continental meeting of all coalitions scheduled for Accra, Ghana in March 2025. The draft workplan becomes handy and will form a basis for the C4PA to negotiate areas of overlap and subsequent working relationships with the other coalitions.
FANRPAN was represented by Mr. Francis Hale, the Director for Policy Advocacy and Communications.
