The Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa (CCARDESA) in collaboration with AFAAS, ASARECA, CORAF, and FARA is implementing a CAADP-XP4 Programme which is funded by the European Union (EU) and administered by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Besides the CAADP-XP4 programme, CCARDESA through various programmes, like the GCCA+ project and the AICCRA project is implementing interventions to build the capacity of the region to adapt to climate change and improve the resilience of the food systems of the region.
CCARDESA brought together a team of experts with a combination of agriculture and natural resources management experience and a strong environmental science background to develop two generic ESFs at a 5-day writeshop. CCARDESA the write shop was intended to develop the environmental sustainability framework (ESF) for the CAADP-XP4 Programme and CCARDESA using a team of international experts. The development of the framework was done by assembling a team of environmental experts drawn from within the national agricultural knowledge and innovation systems in the SADC region.
The Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Analysis Network (FANRPAN) was represented by the projects officer Ms Shiluva Nkanyani.
