The Malawi CAADP NSA Dialogue Platform was held on the 15th September 2011 in Lilongwe. The one day meeting was attended by 37 participants: Private Sector 22%, Civil Society Organizations 35%, Government 27%, Journalists 11% and Farmer's Unions 5%. Women representation was 24%.
The main objectives of the dialogue platform were:
The inclusion of Non State Actors (NSAs) in the Agriculture Sector Wide Group (ASWAG)
To encourage partnerships and the desire to work together of different stakeholders within the CAADP process in Malawi
To highlight investment opportunities and the benefit of partnerships across different sectors within the CAADP process
To recognize and address the challenges of working together
To encourage NSA to share ownership of the CAADP process and align themselves with national efforts to increase agricultural productivity.
To develop a road map and an action plan for implementation
The FANRPAN node hosting institution, CISANET and a steering committee with members from farmer organisations and private sector organized the meeting.
