Swaziland CAADP Multi-stakeholder Policy Dialogue Platform
17 November 2010

The Swaziland CAADP Multi-stakeholder Policy Dialogue was held on 17 November 2010 at Happy Valley Resorts, Ezulwini. The meeting was attended by 30 participants from different stakeholder groups: 27% government, 33% NGOs, 23% researchers/academia, 10% private sector and 7% farmers unions. This report gives an overview of the deliberations and recommendations generated during this meeting.

In Swaziland, the bulk of high value crops such as sugar, forestry, and citrus are grown in the Title Deed Land (TDL) which is characterized by high levels of investment and irrigation, and high productivity. Nevertheless, the majority of the population - about 75 percent - is employed in subsistence agriculture on Swazi Nation Land (SNL), which, in contrast, suffers from low productivity and investment.
