CPWF: The Challenge Program on Water and Food
Communication Training Programme
St George's Hotel, Pretoria
9 May 2011 - 13 May 2011

The Challenge Program on Water and Food (CPWF) is a global research-for-development program. Its unit of analysis is the river basin and it operates in the Limpopo, Nile and Volta basins in Africa; the Mekong, Ganges and Andean System of Basins.

The CPWF vision is "To help develop more prosperous and resilient agricultural societies by improving access to water, and the ways it is managed and used."

On 9 - 13 May 2011 a group of 20 communication practitioners from all over the world will be visiting South Africa for a communication workshop and engagement. This forms part of the preparation for the 3rd International Forum on Water and Food that will take place in November this year.

About the Forum:
The 3rd International Forum on Water and Food is will be a benchmark event in water for food research. The forum will be held in South Africa from November 14 - 17, 2011. The 2011 Forum on Water and Food will assess progress of the CPWF to date and maximize and capitalize on emerging results. It will provide space to take stock of progress so far within and beyond the CPWF River Basins exploring both process and research findings. It will an opportunity for Topic Working Groups to better interact with Basin research projects and ensure the Forum is seen as a platform for advancing cross-basin learning. Specific focus will be on the water and food development challenges posed in Africa and the role research-for-development plays in addressing these challenges.
