His Excellency Sindiso Ngwenya, Secretary General - COMESA & FANRPAN Board Chairman delivers keynote at the African Conference of Think Tanks: Policies for a Better Future in Cairo, Egypt 8 - 9 November 2010.

Realizing the crucial role that think tanks play in the development process and in consequent with the success of the first international conference on the "Role of Think Tanks in Developing Countries: Challenges and Solutions that took place in Cairo on 17 - 18 January 2009, the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) took the initiative of organizing the "African Conference of Think Tanks: Policies for a better Future" in November 8 - 9, 2010, Zamalek Marriott Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.

The main objective of the conference was to endorse the significant role that think tanks, as policy actors, can play in confronting the arising challenges in the African continent. The conference further explored the following themes and issues:-
  • The status of African think tanks.
  • Challenges and opportunities facing African think tanks and sorting out tangible solutions.
  • Enhancing cooperation opportunities among African countries.
  • Developing future scenarios for the role of think tanks in Africa.
