FANRPAN to Participate at the Committee on World Food Security 34th Session in Rome

FANRPAN CEO, Dr Lindiwe Majele Sibanda has been invited to participate as a panelist at the 34th Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) to be held in Rome at the FAO Headquarters from 14 to 17 of October 2008.

Dr Sibanda will represent CSOs/NGOs in a panel discussion at a Special Event on "High Prices and Food Security: Issues and Policy Responses", on Friday 17 October 2008; co-panelists will be Dr N. Bricas of CIRAD in Montpellier and Mr Luc Maene DG of the International Fertilizer Industry Association who will respectively represent academia/research and the private sector. The event will focus on the effectiveness of short, medium and long term responses to high food prices. The Special Event is seen as an opportunity for a wide spectrum of stakeholders to discuss their views and lessons of experience on measures already taken to strengthen the benefits and attenuate the threats of high food prices on national and household level food security.
