AfDB-DONATA Scholarship announcement

Invitations are invited for scholarship under the SADC-FARA DONATA (Dissemination of New Agricultural Technologies for Africa) at South Africa’s University of Pretoria and KwaZulu Natal, and Hassan II Agriculture and Veterinary Institute in Morocco.

Opportunities are available for 40 MSc candidates to undertake training in various agricultural and related disciplines including information, communication technology.

Female students are particularly encouraged to apply.

Candidates will undertake full course work at the universities but will be required to conduct their thesis research in the Target Country Sites (TCSs) i.e. Mozambique, Tanzania or Zambia) where the DONATA Innovation Platforms for Technology Adoption (IPTAs) are operational and when that is not possible in their respective home countries.

Although candidates with above average BSc grades are preferred, the universities will consider candidates with good diplomas and exceptional performance records over a minimum of 7 years on-the-job experience.

Students will continue to receive their full fellowship entitlements while conducting their field work.

The 15 Medium-Income Countries that are not eligible for the ADF grants but could benefit from the training opportunities are welcome to participate with funds from other sources. The affected countries are: Algeria, Botswana, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Libya, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

Potential students will be selected by SADC and only then advised to apply to one or all three universities to get admission.
